Tuesday Shoesday: Black Shoe Boots

So this is a bit of a boring post but it is practical so I won't apologise! Many of our regular readers will know that I have been searching the the perfect pair of black high heeled shoe boots ever since I had to send my beloved ASOS Tweedy pair off to shoe heaven! I am still kicking myself that I didn't purchase another pair when they were still available as they were only about £40, good height, good style and soooooo comfy! However, I must move on so have narrowed the choice down to the following options:

Miss Selfridge Benji Black Shoe Boot £40

Pros:

• Price - down from £50 in the sale
• Heel height - just perfect
• Platform - small platform means more comfortable (usually)

Cons:

• Zip at back - I have another pair like this and the zip digs in or causes holes in tights
• Design - pretty plain

Miss Selfridge Bling Bling Black Embellished Boot £55

Pros:

• Design - love the sparkles on the back
• Good heel height
• Side zip

Cons:

• Design - bit blingy for day wear
• They just don't LOOK comfortable!

Aldo Frosacc Studded Shoe Boots £85

Pros:

• Design - love the studs on the back - very Sam Edelman
• Heel height - not too high
• Boot height - I like how it will sit low on the ankle like proper shoe boots

Cons:

• Price - more expensive than the others
• Design - too dressy?

 

ASOS Toronto Shoe Boot £28

 

Pros:

• Price - you really can'to go wrong at £28
• Style - hidden platform for comfort and cool heel

Cons:

 

• Not sure the thin heel lends itself well to all night comfort
• Look a bit chunky due to the hidden platform

 

 

 

 

Oasis Nina Shoe Boot £70

 

Pros:

 

• Oasis is my shop of the moment as I can vouch for their high quality boots
• They look comfortable (although I cannot verify this!)

Cons:

 

• Slightly more expensive than the others
• Not sure on the pointier toe

 

 

 

So these are the ones that make my short list after weeding out too chunky, too skinny, too cheap, too expensive, too much detail, too plain, too much of a boot boot etc. etc.

 

As you can see, I'm not really any nearer to finding my perfect pair and I may have to accept that I need two pairs! I am drawn to the Aldo ones (always drawn to the most expensive :-() but then maybe I can get a more basic pair too?! What a predicament!

Wednesday Winners

Hey Everyone

It hardly seems a week since we were last picking out our Wednesday Winners - where does the time go?! We hope you've all been enjoying our picks and that you aren't suffering too much from the same fate as we have: RSS - Repetitive Shopping Syndrome, from all the clicking and inputting of card details online!!

Chelsea's Picks

This week I've picked out some more wintry items - ironic since I am picking these on what is actually a really sunny day (but unfortunately, the sceptic in me knows this won't last and so it's best to be prepared!)

1. Zara Cable Knit Sweater with Zip (£38.99)
I love this jumper. I really like knitwear, especially cable knit and I love the traditional colour of this Aaron-like jumper. The zip at the back adds a modern twist too.

2. Sam Edelman Kendrix Buckle High Ankle Boots @ mywardrobe (£180)
For a pair of designer boots, £180 isn't too bad (who am I trying to convince?) I think this pair have a Mulberry look about them with all of the straps. I like the tough look and would definitely wear these with a pair of skinny jeans and the Zara jumper!

3. Miss Selfridge Green Lace Insert Tee (£28)
I was really trying my best not to mention collars this week on the blog as I know Naomi will mock my obsession! However, I am willing to sacrafice Naomi having a laugh at my expense to bring you this super cute t-shirt. I love the pale green (although it is equally cute in the cream) and the lace inserts make it slightly more pretty and dressy.

4. George High Waisted Denim Spot Shorts (£14)
Whilst saving for my wedding I got a little bit addicted to finding supermarket bargains! George is my favourite supermarket range and I'm not ashamed to admit that I don't mind picking up a pair of cute shorts with my bread and apples! I think this polka dot high-waisted pair are very Jess from New Girl.

5. Oasis Parka with Leopard Fur Lining at ASOS (£88)
This coat is my favourite of this week's picks. I love a good parka and this traditional khaki one looks so cosy with the leopard lining and hood. It's definitely on the top of my birthday purchases list!

Naomi's Picks:

Zara has absolutely floated my boat this week.  I could have picked all five winners from Zara alone, but I didn't want to look like I hadn't put any effort in!

1. Zara Jacquard Loom Trousers £39.99
I like the tailored and cropped style of these trousers, but most of all I like the Jacquard design and colours. They are perfect for a smart casual evening look, but could also be dressed down with a chunky knit. 

2. Next Check Dress £55
Tartan is sweeping the stores at the moment but the colours of this dress offer you a glam not in-your-face tartan.  For taller girls it can be hard to find knee-length dresses and skirts but this one looks like it will keep you work appropriate.  The rouched side and capped sleeves turn this dress into a designer look-a-like.

3. Zara Three Quarter Length Puffer Jacket £89.99
I feel guilty announcing this... but I absolutely love puffer jackets. I know that they are not the most fashionable of items but wearing a puffer is like being wrapped in a duvet and quite frankly there is nothing I want more than to be wrapped in a duvet whilst standing on a train platform in winter. I was delighted to see this Zara puffer as I feel it has taken the puffer to a new level of fashionable. The navy and gold colours add sophistication and the zipped collar, gold edged tassels and two sprung belt add style. These features, combined with 30% feather and 70% grey duck down (aka a duvet), scream "buy me now".  I really need this in my life. 

4. River Island @ ASOS Chelsea Girl Dobby Spot Blouse £25
I think subconsciously I have chosen this blouse in homage of Chelsea - her name and her love for collars, and not to mention my love for lace. I also really love the keyhole detailing at the back of the shirt.  Again, I think this could be worn with a pair of jeans or a pair of smart trousers - take your pick!  

5. Zara Embroidered Fantasy Skirt £79.99
I must admit I wasn't initially taken aback by this skirt but then I clicked on the zoomed-in image and thought 'wow!'.  The pearls and quilted embroidered pattern are unique but also reminded me of a Chanel design. I think this skirt is totally classic chic.

Tuesday Shoesday: Oasis Metal Zip Ankle Boot

Good Morning Guys! Today I am in an extra good mood - not only because it's time for Tuesday Shoesday again but also because it's my birthday!! How appropriate that my birthday should fall on Shoesday!

As you get older, birthdays become a little bit bitter sweet. Whilst I hate the fact I'm another year older (well, technically only a day older than I was yesterday) I do LOVE the fact that I get presents! Who doesn't love presents? Especially shoe presents!

Now, I am very particular about gifts (a trait also shared by fellow Who's that girl? blogger, Naomi!) Whilst Naomi chooses to accept what she's given and then exchange it at a later date - sometimes for a preferable alternative, usually for cash value to shop elsewhere - I avoid the hassle by issuing strict instructions to my nearest and dearest in advance.

I realise this may be coming across as just a tad spoilt, I am actually grateful to anyone who has taken the time to choose me a gift, but I am sure everyone has found themselves in a situation of fake smiling and pretending the tiny ornamental umbrella/knitted peg basket/wide screen TV* they have received is just what they wanted!

*Just a selection of the gifts I have received from people who strayed from the list - the TV sounds better than it was!

So, this year I issued my list which included a lovely new camera, some Oh Lola! perfume and these cute boots from Oasis:

I love ankle boots but usually opt for black. I also only have either completely flat or high heels but this mid-heel is day-wear comfy whilst still giving me a little height.  These natural coloured ones also reminded me of the Isabel Marant Dicker boots which are so loved by Katie Holmes.

I plan to steal Katie's style and team with skinny jeans for a casual look. I will also be opting for some opaque tights and a dress/skirt as the winter comes in.

I can already see these boots will be a wardrobe fave for me so am contemplating buying another pair whilst Oasis are still offering 15% off! I don't want to be kicking myself (with my worn out boots) if they all sell out like I did with last week's Sparkle Sparkle shoesday!!

Sunday Save: Oasis Peplum Top

I have been a bit unsure about the peplum craze as technically, they should be the most unflattering item. Who would want to wear a top that make the waist look wider I thought!? However, I have to say, whenever I see someone else wearing one, I really like it and wish I could wear it. I have tried them on but they always seem to sit in the wrong place and don't look right.

However, for this print, at this price, I may have to give them another go!

 

This quirky printed top comes courtesy of Oasis and is currently in the sale at just £20. I love blue (I think it's the most prominent colour in my wardrobe) and as you all know, I also love a collar. I don't like actual birds (or anything else that flies around for that matter) but I am quite a fan of a bird print.
